Data Privacy

It’s important to know what happens with your data. So here’s a simple and transparent explanation of how your personal information is handled when you visit my website or get in touch with me.

1. Who’s responsible here?

The person responsible for data processing on this website is:

Christina Pautsch
Dunckerstr. 90, 10437 Berlin, Germany
Phone +49 (0)179 943 53 66

2. What data is collected – and why?

Technical data (automatically collected)

When you visit my site, your browser automatically sends some technical information, like:

  • Which pages you visit
  • Date and time of your visit
  • Your browser and operating system
  • Your device’s IP address (anonymized)

This data is processed by a plugin called WP Statistics to help me understand how often my site is visited and from where – without using cookies or tracking your behavior. Your IP address is anonymized, so no personal identification is possible.

Cookies

I use the Cookie Notice & Compliance for GDPR / CCPA plugin to let you know that cookies might be used when you first visit the site. These cookies help keep the site running smoothly or remember your preferences. I don’t use cookies for advertising or behavioral tracking.

Contact form

If you send me a message via the contact form (built with Otter Blocks), your message goes straight to my email inbox. I’ll only use the information you provide (name, email, message) to respond to your inquiry. I don’t store it long-term or share it with anyone.

Newsletter signup

If you subscribe to my newsletter, your data (first name, email address) is processed by Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), an EU-based service that operates under GDPR regulations. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, and your data will be deleted from the list.

Google reCAPTCHA

To protect my forms from spam and abuse, I use Google reCAPTCHA. This means that when you fill out a form, Google quietly checks in the background whether you’re a real person – no action needed on your side. During this process, information like your IP address or mouse movements may be analyzed. Sounds a bit spooky, but it’s just to tell humans from bots. By using the form, you agree to this check. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

Embedded YouTube videos

Some blog posts contain embedded YouTube videos. If you click on a video, your browser connects to YouTube, which may collect data about you – even if you’re not logged in. I embed videos using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode to limit data sharing as much as possible.

3. What are your rights?

You have the right to:

  • Request information about what data I’ve stored about you
  • Ask for correction or deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to how your data is processed
  • Withdraw your consent (e.g. to the newsletter)
  • File a complaint with your local data protection authority if something seems off

4. Hosting

My website is hosted by Loswebos.de (server location: Germany). They automatically store server log files (IP address, time of visit, browser used, etc.) for security and stability. These logs are deleted after a short period and are not linked to any personal data.

5. Anything else?

Here are some additional tools I use to make the site work and look good. They do not process personal data:

  • Fonts Plugin (Google Fonts are stored locally – no data sent to Google)
  • Smart Slider 3, Spectra, and Otter Blocks (used to design and build pages)
  • Brevo, as mentioned above, for newsletter signups
  • Maintenance, Simple Custom CSS, WPCode Lite (to manage site functionality)
  • Duplicate Page and Post, RealFaviconGenerator (for design and backend tasks)

Comments are disabled on the blog – so no worries about data being stored there.
